Skye Nacel is the founder of
Perpetualmocean which began in 1997 and is always up for adventure or mischief.
He focuses on placing emphasis on daily pursuit of core sports such as surfing,
free ride mountain biking, snow boarding, all the while thinking outside the
box. “I needed to feel that my work was something that was inspiring, made a
difference and allowed me flexibility to pursue my many passions” These passions
flow over into every aspect of his life and leave no question what he was placed
on earth to do.
Skye feels that Perpetualmocean is
the perfect moniker for his life and business. Perpetualmocean is
"movement in a
sedentary world” and not just of the body! Whether teaching people to be more
active, mentoring kids or getting his ass kicked in the surf in a cold
nor'easter, it is about being “alive and kicking” and feeling inspired.
Perpetualmocean has always
focused on getting people inspired and often thru media. This comes from the
inspiration that Skye himself has always gathered from quality action media. It
began with a 1993 Outside Magazine article profiling a then relatively unknown
waterman by the name of Laird Hamilton. Skye was so touched by the article and
countless other articles, photos, videos and the like that kept the stoke going
in between sessions of adventure. Perpetualmocean outdoor adventure TV began in
1999 as well as writing about adventure for publications and this has continued
in many exciting projects that hopefully do the same for others. This past
summer, Skye produced and hosted Perpetualmocean radio, a 2 hour program
focusing on adventure, lifestyle and music. He also hosted the "Core Sports”
report on Dan Egan’s Wild World of Summer, a magazine format TV show on WNDS
watched by 300,000 plus people weekly. He also was a regular contributor to both
the “Wire Magazine” and N'East Magazine as a writer and photographer focusing on
...you guessed it, adventure!
Perpetualmocean also carries
products and represents companies that supply the tools to take people to the
next level. These companies are always high-quality, socially conscious,
progressive, local when possible and are unique in their philosophy. Skye says
“I will not represent a company for the sake of money if I don’t firmly believe
in their mission, believe me, I turn down shit all the time . The philosophy of
Perpetualmocean is easy and dictates what will work and what won’t”.
Skye reminds people to never
take themselves too seriously and remember that “its what you do when you’re not
working for money that makes you who you are”!
He is also extremely thankful to
everyone that has helped, inspired, understood and worked along the way to make
his dreams come true!
